What I liked about www.capitalone.com:
- The homepage is clean, easy to navigate, and to the point
- There are tabs to separate "personal", "small business", and "commercial" services.
- These tabs change but the surrounding page stays the same. There isn't a need for a refresh
- The site offers its credit cards, but you don't feel inundated with credit card ads everywhere.
- As far as credit card websites go, they have the best "browse our cards" page, other than creditcards.com, that I have seen. The site is also better than citibank.com.
- You can easily choose your credit type(excellent credit, above average credit, credit that needs some improvement, limited credit history, or small business) by clicking on a tab, and see the available cards for you and all of the specs.

What I didn't like about the site:
- When you are in the "find a card for me" mode, the back button does not work. You need to go all the way back to the homepage.
- Other than this, I couldn't find anything else that stood out as a red flag.

I really, really resent being turned down for credit & then receiving ANOTHER offer extending credit because of my (I quote) "strong credit standing". During the past several months I have received numerous offers from CapitolOne, but this was the first time that I had attempted to take advantage of an offer. THEY CAN TAKE THEIR OFFERS AND STICK THEM WHERE THE SUN DOESN"T SHINE. I will NEVER recommend CapitolOne to anyone!

i have yet to receive my April 2007 statement. I've changed my address and filedfor a change of addrerss and mail forwarding with the Postal Service. Where is my statement? on time paying custumers. I did talk to a custumer service rep. All he said was capitalone has the right to raise int rates. Thats a poor business practice.

My first time on this site. I hoped that I could pay online but after looking at the messages from others I can tell that Capital One has no interest in their customers. I guess I should re-think having this card and I'll pass this concern on to my friends and family to tell them to stay away from Capital One.

i pay all the time online and haven't seemed to have any problems. this is not the correct website you need to go to capitalone: credit cards auto finance loans and saving accounts...with the www.capitalone.com at the bottom. also i called the other day after seeing this webpage and i talked to a real person in case anyone believes that no one works there.
What does it take to get a live person with this company. I put them on speaker phone and they never came on, to answer; not a word.

I transferred a balance from another credit card to capitalone because of an offer of no interest until May 2008, when I received my statement it had a minimum payment with interest of $308.00. This is insane! I also cannot get anyone on the phone to talk to and ask them about this. This is ridiculous! I am transferring this to another credit card and cancelling this credit card as soon as possible.

Notified you months ago of my change of address. FEB & MAR statements got here but APR, MAY, & JUN went to my old PO Box 90 miles from here. So I got 2 months behind. Tried calling several 800 #'s but get same recorded BS with no option to talk to real person. Sent another notice by USPS and online 2day -- if this happens again next month, you're OUT of my wallet!!!
I would like to have some one to contact me about my accont. There is a magizine subscription that I want to cancel and the company will not comply with my request.
The magizine is paint works. I have sent them do not renew and they have called me and at that time they told me they would not renew. I recieved thrir magizine this week and I do not want you to pay them and to cancel my subscription now. I have tried for three years to stop this transaction.
I have found it very difficult to not anly get through to them to talk to them and the same goes for your bank I have not been able to find any ph# so that I could talk with someone to make this change and would be very happy if you would contact me. Waiting to see what happens come the end of June. If I have to make another 180-mile round-trip to retrieve my errant billing statement because you're still not heeding my notice of change of address -- which I first sent you 6 MONTHS ago -- I'm paying off the balance and cancelling the card.

I tried to pay online but kept getting a login failure. Finally called to ask what's the problem and got a live person after putting in my account number and zip code. The number I used is 1-800-955-7070. For anyone trying to reach a live person, try this number. The clerk I got said the website is "sometimes" down, they have no way of knowing when it will be up again and she didn't have the number for technical service. Also, my rate went up from 4.9% to 9.9%, my husbands went from 7.9% to 12.9%, because of the website issue and the rates going up, I think it's time to cancel my card. We canceled my husband's as soon as the rate went up.

I am totally disgusted with capital one. I have had an account with them for years, and have never gone over my limit, never had a late payment and always pay more than the minimum, suddenly they raise my apr from 12.9 to 17.9. I finally got to talk to a representative after 50 minutes of waiting on the phone , the explanation was just because we can. I know now that they sure dont care about good paying customers, and Im now trying to get this account paid as soon as possible. I am retired and on a fixed income so this had made it hard on me. I will pay off this account and I will never deal with capital one again. J.

I just became a member to capital one and after 1 month I recieved a notice that after I made 3 payments on time and more that the minimum balance due I would recieve a $500.00 credit increase. I have made my payments and paid the account in full each time. Now I have recieved a letter that I am not eligable for a credit increase at this time. I have decided that capital one deals in false advertisment. I am canceling my card and going to deal with citicard only since I have had no problem and can talk to a real person any time I need.
After reading all of these comments I am glad I don't have a Capital One card in my wallet.
However, for the last 3 years I keep getting mail from Capital One for three other people at my address. I keep returning them through the post office with notes to Capital One and trying to call them. I guess that there really isn't any humans working there since no one seems to answer the phones or changes the addresses. So I'll try here, Pascual Suarez, Tina M. Hurtado and Craig Lemaster are not getting their mail so either guit sending mail or try contacting them some other way. You really do SUCK!!!
I am in the process of trying to use my accumulated miles, 148,000 and will cancel card when these are gone. Did not get bill in mail, looked on internet to get my balance and payed from that amount. Payable address had changed from original which made payment late even though it did get forwarded. I called customer service when I did not see credit on account over internet and was told to send new check to correct address which I did by the 14th of month both checks had been credited to my account. Customer service advised it was their policy no to issue credit for late charge or penalty. I do not know how much it cost for them to attract a new customer with all their "WHATS IN YOUR WALLET" advertising but can say it cost me $45.00 in charges which was enough to get rid of the card.

europe. I haven't used it much but liked their mileage for all airlines. If everyone is haveing so much trouble w C1, I guess I'll keep using Chase. They have never given me any problems and are easy to pay over phone and pmt applies immediatly not like C1 who can take somethng like ten days to apply it to your account (read the small print). How can I read my monthy credit card statement charges on the interenet?
Hello! Boy, am I ever glad I pulled this site up. I am definitely RIGHT at home here. Yesterday I was shopping and after six hours of happily shopping and charging they rejected my last charge of the day!! I am not a big shopper and about once every six months, I go for it - clothes, shoes, etc - we're not talking four cars here. We pay the bill monthly. I was SO embarrassed!! Then, on the way home, my husband told me that they called home to question the charges and refused to speak to my husband so that he could tell them I was shopping. Does this make ANY sense at all? Today, I thought, OK, I'll just give the morons a quick call to straighten them out. WRONG!! I was turned over to the fraud division, where I spent 40 minutes on hold. So, not only did they erroneously turn down the charge, they then force me to talk to this clown in the fraud to convince him that I did not commit fraud by using my own card. I've decided that if I have to go through this every time I attempt to use this stupid card and waste all this time, it's probably not worth using the card very much anyway.
I have figured out a revenge plan which I will institute next month - totally legally - I certainly don't want to sink to Capital (Capitol :) ) One's (sorry, I couldn't resist that!) level.

When trying to pay my account online I have diffuculty finding the correct CapitalOne page. I have been trying for the last 15 minutes.
I have been trying to close my Capital One credit card account since Fe. of 2007. I'ts almost July and the account is still open. They owe me a small refund and they refuse to send it to me, therefore keeping the account open. When I finally get a person to speak to me they are very uncooperative and refuse to give me their names and furthermore will not connect me to a supervisor. My only course of action now is to call the STATES ATTORNEYS OFFICE AND REPORT THE FOR BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES .

I wonder if Capital One actually reads this. I too agree with most of the comments, cannot get a real person on the phone, raising a rate just because they can even after suckering people in with a "fixed rate". I work at a bank and a "fixed rate" is a FIXED RATE!!
I pressed a button to request an increase in my credit limit (though I didn't want it) hoping I could actually get someone on the phone. I received a letter shortly afterward denying the request. I hope that didn't go against my credit report.
These companies are just too big and do not care about customer service. Stick with the smaller ones. They really care about people. I am looking for a better deal myself.

I, too, say run as fast as you can. I paid off an account and 9 months later I had a charge for the expressway authority (an automatic charge that goes on whatever credit card was on file). I immediately paid that off and told them AGAIN to close my acct. Well, they tried to explain they couldn't close my account until a year had passed. WHAT????? I have talked to every person there that I could and I don't think any of them have a brain between them. Since then, someone got my credit card # and have had a field day with it. I have just about had a nervous breakdown over this whole mess. The idiots at the credit card company don't even speak to the idiots at the fraud dept. in their own company and now I have late fees on top of charges that I didn't make on my bill AND CAPITAL ONE HAS REPORTED THIS to the credit bureaus. Unfortunately, I don't have any money for an attorney right now so I just keep making phone calls, faxes. I can never ever get a manager or anyone in charge to talk to me. THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH THEM.
several years ago my husband had captial one credit card. he had problems after problems with captial one, he had paid them off and they stated that he had a balancce on the acct. which he didn't because he had proof where he paid them off and they still was saying that he own them and finally he got the problem solve after thousands of phone calls to them. so please don't get tricked
I have had NOTHING but PROBLEMS with Capital One since I first got my credit card through them. I wanted a credit card because I am a college student and knew I'd need credit in the future if I was going to buy things.. like a laptop! And their online payment option takes FOREVER to post, and the people working for Capital One that you talk to.. are the RUDEST people I've ever had to come in contact with. I actually got told by a CAPITAL ONE REPRESENTATIVE, that "well excuse me but if you're giving me so much trouble, I can't even imagine what kind of mess you make for your bank".. I couldn't believe it!! CRAPPY customer service. If you don't already have a capital one card.. DON'T GET ONE!! They're horrible!!! And the APR is 20%!!!

Disgraceful The worst treatment of customers that is possible.You could not script anyone to create a public relations nightmare which has to be brewing. Their approach to customers is as there VIKING commercial indicates OUT OF CONTROL I sense a management shake up in the works Their board cannot let this departure of customers continue. If the federal gov't doesn"t step in here they will never step in to protect consumers.You will spend literally hrs on the phone waiting to speak to someone and then transferred again only to hold some more and then be disconnected and forced to do it all over again. The above comments are right one If you have another card even with a fee stay with them.

Hey everyone. I figured out how to get a live person, after the recording asks for you account number and four digit pin or zip code, push a bunch of numbers and the machine will not recognize your entry and transfer you to a live person. I put in a comment two weeks ago about this being a dream, well it is all gravy, i have used my card and like all card holders should do i used the card and sent my payment in the next day to the address they list on the recording. I dont get any percent charges and everything has worked out great. Also i noticed someone say they never got a statement, i did, paid double the minimum so $30 and every thing is working just fine. Whats in your wallet? keep it there. Happy spendings and have fun getting your credit up. After all, we have our credit cards to improve our credit not go on shopping sprees, RIGHT? GOOD LUCK YA'LL! I have had this card for many years alot of years and I have had no problems. Including the website,payments or any thing else until now. I tried to contact a real person and there is no way. So far any way, perhaps if they do read this they should get a way.
I am going out of town on Saturday, Oct 27, and will return on Nov 10. During that time my statement should come. Would like to make my pmt online this month so as not to be late. If a wife and husband each have their own Capital One cards but one is deceased why does the other have his or her card canceled out? Why can't it be reinstated? This should be the legal thing to do whith out any HASSLE.

Capital One is awful Your "fixed rate" will not stay fixed at all for long, (gaurantee it) and they'll charge you extra fee's I guess when they're trying to meet a quota. And the worst part is, you can NEVER get a person on the phone. I sweat to god I have called 30 different numbers for them now, and each one gives you the same dumb menu options. Not ONE of those options is the option to speak to a representative. I was actually so upset that I googled "will i ever be able to speak to a Capital One representative?" and found this site. Do not apply with them, you will regret it! Go to creditcards.com, and you can compare side by side all the credit cards in America. So do yourself a favor, and get any one except C1. SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
******************no joke, if you want to speak to a human, after you enter your credit card # just hit the pound sign like crazy until it puts you through. It will say "not a valid key", but i PROMISE, just keep doing it (i hit it maybe 10 times) and then it will say "before we connect you, please enter the last 4 of your social". and then it puts you through. Seriously, the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. HORRIBLE customer service and it's rigged if you ask me. Who does that to their customers, i mean seriously? They are terrible. I would cancel my card today if it didnt affect my credit score.

Ref: statement Oct to Nov12, 2007. The charges to World Reserve of $16.00, on down the list of the World Reserve was not authorized. The overlimit fee is incorrect. Pease correct the unauthorized charges, I believe my account should be corrected. Thank you.
I can't pay my bill on line and I pay the whole card off in full then I pay extra $money 5 for the monthly fee and 10 for the electronic phone fee then they charge me daily intrest 6 days after my bill is paid off and then send a bill for a late fee.... which I should have owed nothing... now i owe 28.23 my satements says i owe 17.73 if i pay the 17.73 i still owe them and it goes on and on. captital one is not in my wallet any more they take from your wallet. you have to push multiple buttons to get a live voice if you can understand them......then they transfer you in hopes you go hang up....

Called to dispute an insurance charge listed on my account. Spoke with someone who identified herself as Alexis. I could not understand what she said and I had great difficulty communicating my problem to her. She refused to transfer me to someone whom I could understand.I was ready to cancel my card. She finally gave me number of the insurance company who had generated the charge.. The person who answered at that number was easily understood and very helpful. Capital One needs to improve it's customer service. If this situation is ever repeated when I call I will cancel my card. There are too many companies that would appreciate my business.

I am constantly getting calls for someone named Mark on my T-Mobile cell phone that I buy minutes for. I have received 6 or 7 in the last few days. I told them over & over....there is NO Mark at this #. QUIT CALLING ME. I called the 800 # back that constantly calls me (800-955-6600) and when it requested my 9 digit account #, I hit 0 nine times. Every time it asked me to key in a #, I kept hitting 0. Believe it or not, I finally got a person (from somewhere in India) I believe, that refused to get her supervisor. She finally let me tell her what was going on and said she would refer this to the supervisor. Guess what!!! My phone started ringing this morning...same #. I am not going to answer, but let them build up on my phone and then sue them for HARRASSMENT. THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS!!!

I been a capital one customer for several years now. I tried not to use my card unless I really really have to. I should have cancelled my card many years ago but not its a must after reading all of these messages. first hand, its difficult to get new cards and when you call them, they cannot get it right to send you the right one. I received cards with expiration dates and also, funny enough to say, i do speak to a customer service rep but I must be calling a foreign country, cant understand them.

capital one quoted me for a zero balance transfer, after I signed up they changed my rate to 13%. An effort to get hold of some one that can help me has been unfruitful. My calls wwould be sent to India and Argentina and they were unable to help me. Capital one customer service has a zero rating. Their AD is misleading. We have to speak up for Caiptal One to stop this BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE.
The only reason i continue to keep my card is because it looks bad to open and close accounts. When you call with a question, they don't even give you the option of speaking to someone (hit 0) ... They will gladly allow you to go over your limit inorder to stick you, then the card will not be accepted. When I've asked why the card doesn't stop working if you are at your limit (as opposed to 2 dollars over) they say they don't want to embarrass the customer (which makes no sense because once the card is a few dollars over (and they get their fee) then the card is rejected. Try asking a customer service rep about your bill and you will get an answer that even Einstein couldn't figure out. Bullshit from day one with this company. Today they had me on the phone for 5 minutes; I called to tell them I do not want a hard copy of my statement sent to me any longer. After the girl do this and that, then going into another computer she tells me that i will have to go on the website myself and request no hard copy. I asked her why she just didn't tell me that to begin with and her answer (sit down for this one) ... her answer was they change rules everyday. HUH??

After paying off our complete balance for months in a row Capital one decides to leave my husband's account balance at $0.00 while he is out of the country deployed! He is there with absolutely no money on his card and Capital One refuses to speak with me even though I hold a power of attorney over all financial affairs.

I see alot of people looking for a way to pay online. go to "credit cards,auto finance,loans and chedking accounts" link you can sign up to see your statement or make a payment there. I also have always been able to speak to a person when needed. I have been very satisfied with capital one, they picked up my car loan at a great rate when others would not. hang in there and use your card wisely it will help you back if you do.
It's Capital One calling to try to collect on a credit card bill.In Texas and Florida, they CAN NOT COLLECT on an unsecured accountlike a credit card. Ask a lawyer. Texas and Florida are debtor states and even if they go to court and get a judgement, they cannot collect an unsecured judgement. Again, ask a lawyer. You probably dont have to file bankruptsy or anything. It helps if you can just change your phone number every few months. In other states they CAN collect if you have assets, bank accounts and even levy part of your wages. BUT NOT IN TEXAS and FLORIDA. Ask a lawyer in those states. If they trick you and get you to sign a judgement that GIVES THEM a secured interest in your assets, that's too bad. You should not convert an unsecured debt into a secured debt.
I just received a letter from capital one telling me that they have closed my account because I haven't used it in 36 months. Thank you. Capital One is nothing more than the very reverse of what they say they are I made a payment in the middle of the month and they returned it to me and then charged me a late fee the next month. I recently received a letter in the mail to apply for capitolone credit card. On this letter you guaranteed $6,000 credit limit. I applied and received a card for 750.00. I have never had a card for less than $3,000, so 750.00 min of no use to me. If i cannot get a credit limit of $3,ooo minimum or the $6,000 guaranteed in the letter received then i do not want the credit card. Please review, and reply.

Had a phone call today to my roommate's phone and am being harrassed as to why a totally disabled person, who can't work, has to suffer through these phone calls about credit cards who would rather see a person starve to death or living on the street just to pay back bills occurring from over a yr ago..already went through a bankruptcy and they acted like they were giving me a gift of $800 plus late fees for the past yr just cause I wouldn't send them money that I don't have..subsisting on only disability and $10/m food stamps! how are you supposed to cough up even $25 when you hardly can afford to live with the rate of inflation!Never would I get another credit card from any bank nor an acct for that matter as they are very cruel and uncaring and don't care if you drop dead..

I can see from many of these statements that I'm not just computer illiterate. I couldn't find or figure out how or where to pay my bill online. I have paid too many $10 fees for calling them and doing my pmt on the phone. I want to cut that out and quit handing them my hard earned $. Do they not see that many, many people are unhappy with their practices here at Cap One? One would think to keep customers and their accts that a business would make sure they do what they say. give us live persons to talk to (AND NOT FOR $) make the website plain and very clear to make online pmts EASILY like other credit card companies.
CapitalOne is taking me to court for $651 when I only had a $200 limit. And they want me to pay the $40 court fee on top of that.
In the past few months, it happens that every time we get our statements, we find that the envelope is not sealed, others could read and get all information about my account and everything else that is vital to my standings.
I hope that this matter can be corrected and you will notify me.

If you are trying to make an online payment to capital one, you are on the wrong web page. I do not know exactly what this page is but I got lost in here to. Go to www.capitalone.com on your address bar and everything should become clear. I am a new comer to all this computer stuff and wish there were better ways of learning this than trial and error. I would not recommend Capitalone to my worst enemy. I have had nothing but problems with this company. We had identity theft and reported this to their so called Fraud Dept. and they would not listen to what our were to get this matter resolved. I spent probably 100+ hours on the phone with a different person each time, everyone told me something different. Now we have to go to court because they probly sold our debt to some hungry Lawyers. To anyone looking to make a payment on their Capital One account, I could be mistaken, but I believe you actually have to go to www.capitalone.com in order to do that.
That being said, I think their customer service department is horrible. All anyone knows how to do is read from a script. "I'm sorry to hear that ma'am." Or, "I understand your frustration, ma'am." But no one could actually fix the problem. Next time I'll ask to talk to a supervisor, someone who can actually think for themselves and not just read words off a page.

Capitolone Visa Card is a FRAUD! I pay on line, on time, always more than minimum and lately my payment have been posted as "available" but when I did try to use my CC, it was rejected for "insufficient founds". I contacted Customer Service, mostly non English speaking robots only to find out that Capitolone Visa Card HAS A RIGHT TO HOLD MY FUNDS as long as they want to. This time they held it for 6 days, but on line my account showed all clear!
Beware of those CRIMINAL tactics! Those guys from Capitolone are using "inside rules" to use YOUR MONEY to make theirs - each day they collect INTREST on your cash payments!
Hopefully US Government will put a stop to these hoodlums!

Wish I read these comments before I requested a Sony credit card. I didn't know Capital one would be handling it. I just received my card last week. First thing I did was to give them a call to activate the card. Two days later I made my first purchase with my NEW card, it was denied!! Said I had not activated it. I called them again to activate the card,after several minutes, was told it was ready to be used. Got a letter two days later stating it had a "hold" on it "do not use it" from the fraud department.Who needs the aggervation? I sure don't. Sorry I ever got the darn thing. SORRY SORRY

I've mailed the abuse@capitalone email address and all I get is automated emails back to me, it's really annoying as there seems no way I can stop the mail and some poor soul has not been getting any account updates via email too.
I applied for this card, and got it, but, on the day that it came in the mail, and I went to activate it, it said that my account was restricted, now they want everything I gave them on my app. and more to prove who I am...what a load of crap, this card really bites, and I would never recommend it to anyone!!!!!
CapitalOne is a joke...I rec'd a credit card in Sept and had not activated it. I called today to activate and was told my account was past due. How can an account be past due when it has not even been activated? I was told that the $15 late fee would be waived if I would just submit the $39 mmbshp fee. Again, how is there anything due if the acct is not activated. Where am I supposed to send a pymt? I haven't received a bill to mail pymt in. This is a joke!
i applied for card few weeks ago finally got it in the mail went to activate it and they transfer me to the fraud department saying they need copy of id, ssn, and utility bill! such a huge inconvience i could have easily applied elsewhere i will not recommend capital one credit card to anyone who doesnt like hassle because thats all they do they should ask for all those documents before they approve & restrict accounts that havent ever been used
